Dr. Ashwin B. Nambisan and his team are highly-trained and exceptionally qualified to offer enhanced techniques like laser treatment to improve the health of your gum tissue. Dr. Ashwin B. Nambisan completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, followed by his Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Loma Linda University in California. He went on to design dental implants and manage clinical trials at Zimmer Dental. His research at Zimmer Dental created a strong desire in him to pursue a career as a periodontist. 

After completing a three-year periodontics residency program at Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey, he received his Post Graduate Certificate in Periodontics in 2015. 

Dr. Nambisan has the vision to improve the quality of life for his patients by providing evidence-based, advanced periodontal, laser, and implant treatments. He genuinely cares about his patients and wants them to have the best possible dental health.

Periodontist 

Dr. Ashwin B. Nambisan completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (India), followed by a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from Loma Linda University (California). He then designed and managed dental implant and periodontal clinical trials for Zimmer Dental. His research experience created a strong desire to pursue a career as a Periodontist. Following this, Dr. Nambisan went on to join the Graduate Periodontics residency program (3 years) at Rutgers University, School of Dental Medicine (New Jersey). He was awarded his Post-graduate certificate in Periodontics in 2015. He has undergone extensive training in non-surgical, surgical periodontics and Implant dentistry during his residency. 

He is very much focused on providing the best periodontal and dental implant treatment possible for his patients, and so values continuing dental education to keep up with the advancements and sharing. 

Dr. Nambisan genuinely cares about his patients and has a vision of improving the quality of life of his patients by providing the best evidence-based periodontal and implant treatments available. 

Saving teeth is always the primary goal but when that is no longer feasible, he can do most Extractions and Implant Surgery in coordination with the restorative dentist to provide excellent esthetic implant-based solutions. 

Periodontally compromised teeth can usually be saved by performing treatments including Scaling and Root planing, Osseous flap surgery, Guided Bone Regeneration, Guided Tissue Regeneration. 

Implant surgery may include single or multiple implants, Sinus lifts, All on 4+, Implant overdentures, etc. He also treats implants referred for Peri-implantitis treatment. 

Esthetic or functional crown-lengthening can be performed using the laser or traditional surgery.

Gum recession is a common problem that can be rectified with soft tissue grafting including Free Gingival grafts, Connective tissue grafts, and Non-autogenous Connective tissue grafts. He can also perform Gum Depigmentation with the laser. 

Soft tissue surgery can even build gingival (gum) architecture around natural teeth and implants for the most aesthetic and natural look based on the Golden Proportions. Dr. Nambisan is certified in Pinhole gum rejuvenation. 

Dr. Nambisan is certified in Fotona Lightwalker laser and is excited to provide advanced laser treatment which will treat periodontitis, peri-implantitis, and many conditions with better outcomes and have less postoperative discomfort, and faster healing. 

Personal 

Dr. Nambisan enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 children. They love travel, music, doing projects and exploring hiking trails together. They were drawn to Austin a few years ago by the abundant sunshine, natural beauty, live music, and friendly people.

Dr. Nambisan has been an active member of several dental societies including the Capital Area Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health, Pinhole Academy, and the American Academy of Periodontology. He has presented at the Metropolitan Forum, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
